Windsor Local Court

The Windsor Local Court is in a lovely building in a residential area, on the corner of North and Court Streets, in Windsor New South Wales.

The Local Court is the court where all criminal matters involving adults commence. It is also the court that hears summary criminal matters, including traffic offences and Apprehended Domestic Violence Order applications. The Windsor Local Court sits as the Windsor Children’s Court for matters involving people under the age of 18. These are held in the same room as the Local Court, but anyone not connected with the case will be asked to leave when the court is sitting as the Children’s Court.

The doors to the Windsor Local Court typically open at 9 am. It is ideal to arrive about this time. The court list commences being heard at 9:30am. There is usually a Court Registry officer at a desk on the ramp outside, who will tick off your name. If you are attending court for a domestic violence-related matter, look for the specialised Domestic Violence Liaison Officers who line up outside. You will spot them in their uniform holding a clipboard.

If you have a matter before the Windsor Local Court, make sure you arrive well before the time your matter is listed. You should be neatly and conservatively dressed and you should come prepared to be at court for several hours.
