Accredited Specialists who attend Young
Young Local Court
Young Local Court is located at 68 Lynch Street, Young.
The Local court is the court where all criminal matters commence. It will hear cases about all kinds of criminal and traffic offences, including Assault, Domestic Violence, Drink Driving, and Apprehended Domestic Violence Order applications. Young Local Court also hears Domestic and Personal Violence Order applications. If you are under 18 and charged with a criminal offence, your matter will be dealt with by the Young Children’s Court. While the Local Court is usually open to the public, during children’s matters, the court is closed to unrelated parties.
The District Court of NSW does not sit at Young. If your matter is committed to the District Court, it will likely be finalised at Wagga Wagga or Goulburn.
Like many regional courthouses, Young Local Court is not large. Most congregate outside the courthouse until their matter is called. We recommend arriving early and seeking out the registrar or associate who will note your appearance. Your name will be called when the magistrate is ready to hear your matter, which may not be until mid-morning.
Taking the next step and contacting a lawyer can be scary. Our lawyers will make you feel comfortable so you can talk about your situation.

Parking
Parking outside the court, on Lynch Street, is limited to two hours. It is difficult to estimate how long court will take, so we strongly recommend seeking an unlimited spot available in the surrounding side streets, for example, on Marina or Cloete Streets. If you are charged with a traffic offence, and you are liable on conviction to a disqualification period, you should not drive to court.
