Lismore Local Court
The Lismore Courts are located at 9-11 Zadoc Street, Lismore. The Lismore Courts sit as the Local Court and Children’s Court as well as having the District Court sit when it is on circuit. The Lismore Court House has a registry that is open between the hours of 9:00 am and 4:30 pm.
All criminal cases in New South Wales commence in the Local Court. Less serious criminal cases, known as summary matters, are finalised in the Local Court when the accused is an adult. Domestic violence order applications and licence suspension appeals are also heard by the Local Court.
Criminal matters where the accused is under 18 are heard by the Children’s Court.
If you have a matter at the Lismore Court House, make sure you arrive at court well before the time your matter is listed to be heard. You should be neatly and conservatively dressed, and you should be prepared to be at court for most of the day.

Lismore Local Court is part of a circuit, which sits in different locations on specified days. Courts on the same circuit are typically presided over by the same Magistrate.
Lismore Children’s Court
While the Local Court deals with criminal matters where the accused is aged 18 or older, the Children’s Court deals with criminal matters where the accused is under 18 as well as hearing child protection and adoption matters.
