Parenting After Separation Courses

Parenting after separation courses can assist parents focus on their children’s needs and their best interests.

The Family Law Act is based on the following principles:

• All children have a right to know both their parents and to grow up with their love and support;
• All children have a right to be protected from harm;
• Parenting is a responsibility should be equally shared, provided this does not put children at risk; and
• Parents should be able to work together and work out what is best for their children rather than fighting in a Court room.

Parenting strategies and communication are key to parenting after separation. On this basis, parenting after separation courses have been designed to support parents and children in adjusting to life as parents but not partners.
