Werribee Magistrates Court
The Werribee Magistrates Court is located at 38A, Duncans Road, Werribee.
The Magistrates Court is the court where all criminal matters involving adults commence. It is also the court that hears summary criminal matters including traffic offences, and domestic violence order applications. The Werribee Children’s Court, which is located in the same building, also deals with criminal matters where the accused is under 18 as well as hearing child protection and adoption matters on certain days.
If you have a matter in the Werribee Magistrates Court, make sure you arrive at court well before the time your matter is listed to be heard. You should be neatly and conservatively dressed, and you should come prepared to be at court for most of the day.
The parking at the Werribee Magistrates Court is very limited but the court is located close to residential side streets and a local shopping strip where parking can be found. However, if you are attending court for a driving matter where you face possible licence disqualification, do not drive to court.
When you arrive at the Werribee Magistrates Court, you will need to pass through security, and this will usually require that you remove any items from your pocket and place them in a tray to be scanned through by security. You will then need to approach the registry on the bottom floor and make your presence at court known. If you are represented on the day, your solicitor will usually advise the court registry of their appearance on your behalf. If you are not represented, the registrar will advise you which court your matter will be heard in by searching the list, and then you will be required to go up the stairs to the court.
