Rockhampton Magistrates Court
The Rockhampton Courts are located at East Street, Rockhampton. The building is located directly behind the old courthouse (which often confuses people) but it is a three-story building so it can’t be missed. The District Court and Supreme Courts are located on levels two and three, with the Magistrates Court on the ground floor.
The Magistrates Court deals with summary criminal matters, including traffic matters where the accused is an adult. Criminal matters where the accused is under 18 are dealt with by the Children’s Court.
It is a busy court and there is often a long line to pass through security. The first mention in most criminal matters is held in Court 1 (located on the ground floor on the right side after you pass security). However, you should be prudent and ask for assistance at the registry located immediately behind security to make sure you don’t attend the wrong courtroom. If you are required to sign bail undertakings, good behaviour bonds or any other court documents, this can be done at the registry located behind the security desk.
