Murgon Magistrates Court
Murgon Magistrates Court can be found at 48 Stephens Street, West Murgon. There is ample parking on the road outside of the courthouse. Murgon is a rural court, with magistrates and police prosecutors who are based in Kingaroy travelling to appear at Murgon on sitting days.
General call over matters, arrests, remands and traffic matters are heard together on Tuesdays two to three times per month. The court calendar lists the sitting days and should be checked prior to seeking to adjourn matters.
Children’s Court and Domestic Violence Applications and Child Protection Applications are also heard at Murgon Magistartes Court. These matters are dealt with in closed court, meaning the court is closed to anyone who is not involved in the matter. The court’s general practice is to hear domestic violence matters before starting the children’s list.
As Murgon is a rural and therefore a small court, there are limited services available. Any queries should be directed to the registry, or the police prosecutor. It is best practice to arrive at court early to speak with the prosecution, prior to the magistrate appearing.
