Maryborough Magistrates Court
Maryborough Magistrate Court is situated at 170 Richmond Street, Maryborough. The District Court at Maryborough also sits within the same complex.
The Maryborough Magistrates Court deals with summary criminal matters including traffic matters. The District Court deals with serious indictable criminal matters. Accordingly, should you be charged with an indictable offence in the Maryborough area, it will be committed to the District Court at Maryborough.
Maryborough is a busy court with many sitting days. The presiding magistrate also circuits to Bundaberg, Childers and Gayndah, to hear matters in those courts. Circuit run for up to one week at a time, meaning that Maryborough matters cannot be listed during those periods.
As a general rule, Maryborough Magistrates Court hears matters on the following days:
- Arrests and committal mentions on Monday at 9 am, generally weekly. Children’s Court is also listed for the same days, with the list commencing at 12:30 pm.
- Remands, committal proceedings and breaches of community service on Tuesdays, generally weekly. Child Protection Applications are also listed for the same days, with that list commencing at 12:30 pm.
- Traffic and general call over (including government matters) on a Wednesday, once to twice per month.
- Domestic Violence Applications and Peace and Good Behaviour Applications on Thursdays, generally weekly.
