The Best Lawyers who attend Longreach
Longreach Magistrates Court
The Longreach Courts are located at 91 Galah Street, Longreach. The building is small and very easy to miss. However, an easy way to recognise it is to look for a building with windows covered by colorbond fencing and with a large doorway in between them. The District Court and Supreme Courts sit in the same courtroom as the Magistrates Court.
There is no permanent judge or magistrate at the Longreach Courts and a Magistrate will only circuit there once a month for a few days. For this reason, it is important to get a lawyer before your first court event.
There is plenty of parking on the street outside the Longreach Courts but there are some parks with time limits. As it is impossible to predict how long court will run, you should be prepared to be there for a good part of the day. If you are at court for a traffic matter where a period of licence disqualification may be imposed, do not drive to court.
Since the court only sits once a month, it is a busy court and there may be a line to pass through security. Once you enter the building, the registry is on your right and the courtroom is straight ahead. Once you find the right court, speak to the police prosecutor to discuss what you want to do with your matter if you are self-represented. If you have a lawyer, wait for them to find you.
If you are required to sign bail undertakings, good behaviour bonds or any other court documents, this can be done at the registry located near the entrance.
Taking the next step and contacting a lawyer can be scary. Our lawyers will make you feel comfortable so you can talk about your situation.
