How to Beat a Speed Camera
Speed cameras work by sensors placed in the road detecting speeding vehicles and sending a signal to a speed camera which takes a photo of the roadway where the offending vehicle is travelling.
Are Speed Cameras Reliable?
Speed cameras, like all other machines, are subject to error or malfunction. That is why the law requires that the speed cameras be regularly inspected and tested to ensure they are working correctly. On some occasions, speed cameras have been found to be operating incorrectly and the RMS (RTA) have been forced to repay thousands of fines. You may have heard examples of this on television.
Are Speed Camera Photos Reliable?
We hope that they are but how do we know that the radar has detected the correct vehicle in the photograph. A case recently dealt with in the Supreme Court found that the RMS (RTA) had failed to prove that they had nominated the correct vehicle.
Is it Possible to Successfully Defend a Speed Camera Offence?
If you genuinely believe that you were traveling less than the speed indicated by the speed camera, we believe that we have a good chance of winning your case. In order to win cases of this type it is necessary for us to argue technical issues that the RMS (RTA) need to prove before they can establish the reliability of the speed camera.
For obvious reasons, we have not told you how we win these cases. If you genuinely believe that you were traveling less than the speed indicated by the speed camera we would be happy to represent you at court.
