Natasha Heathcote - Senior Associate – Sydney
Natasha Heathcote completed her Bachelor of Business (majoring in finance), and Bachelor of Laws at the University of Technology Sydney. She has long held a strong passion for family law and believes that the law can be used to achieve positive resolutions for her clients. Showing compassion for her clients, she builds strong rapport and trust to help understand their situations, allowing her to identify the best legal solution to achieve resolution of the matter.
Natasha joined Armstrong Legal in 2015 with the benefit of having worked at the Family Law Courts in both Sydney and Parramatta. She has in-depth knowledge of the court system and procedures related to family law matters, as well as unique insight into the expectations of the judiciary. Natasha regularly appears in the Sydney, Parramatta and Canberra courts.
Natasha previously worked as a direct Legal Associate to two judges of the Family Court, providing her with exposure to various complex matters including parenting and property. This experience and knowledge gives Natasha a distinct advantage when working with her clients on litigation related to family matters. Natasha’s tertiary education in finance also allows her to deal with a broad range of matters including those which involve complex property disputes including valuing of companies, complex asset structures and overseas assets.
Natasha completed her Masters of Applied Law (Family Law) through the College of Law in November 2018. The Masters qualification has cemented Natasha’s practical experience and knowledge.
Natasha is the current Vice-Chair of the NSW Law Society’s Young Lawyers Family Law Committee, and prior to this was the Secretary to the committee from November 2018 to July 2020. Natasha is also a member of the Family Law Section of the Law Counsel of Australia.
Natasha’s areas of expertise include:
- High net worth property matters;
- Complex parenting matters including matters involving allegations of abuse, risk or family violence and non-parent primary carers;
- Complex property matters including corporate and trust structures, overseas assets, taxation and valuation issues;
- Superannuation issues, including defined benefit and pension schemes, and self-managed superannuation funds;
- Financial Agreements including pre-marital/relationship agreements;
- Mediation and non-court based outcomes; and
- Appeals to the Full Court of the Family Court.
Natasha was admitted as a Solicitor in NSW in February 2015 and is also admitted to the High Court of Australia.
When not at work, Natasha leads an active social life and enjoys playing netball. Natasha also has a keen interest for languages, in particular, French and Italian.
