Cootamundra Bay Local Court

The Cootamundra Local Court is located at 298 Parker Street Cootamundra. The Local Court is where all adult criminal matters commence and where summary criminal matters including traffic matters are finalised. The Local Court also deals with applications for Domestic and Personal Violence Orders.

If you have a serious indictable criminal matter arising from the Cootamundra area, this will likely be committed to a higher court. The District Court of New South Wales does not sit at Cootamundra, so while your matter will commence at Cootamundra, it will likely be finalised at Wagga Wagga.

Cootamundra Local Court also sits as the Children’s Court, so if you are under 18 and have been charged with criminal offences, your matter can be finalised in Cootamundra. The court will be closed to the public when it is sitting as the Children’s Court.

If you are attending Cootamundra Local Court, you should make yourself known to the associate or registrar who usually circulates recording appearances. Ensure you arrive early so that you can make your appearance known. Like most regional courts, Cootamundra is a small courthouse, so most people congregate outside and wait for their matter to be called.
