Darwin is, and always has been, Shane’s home. All facets of his life, professional and personal, have been governed, informed, and influenced by his experiences as a proud Territorian. Shane possesses two decades of expertise in criminal law, including numerous Supreme Court trial and appellate successes as both Defence Counsel and Crown Prosecutor. Shane was President of the Criminal Lawyers Association of the Northern Territory (CLANT) between 2022 – 2023 and Vice President for approximately 4 years prior. In addition to his extensive criminal law experience in the Supreme Court, Local Court and Youth Justice Court, he has conducted matters before, The Royal Commission into the Protection and Detention of Children in the Northern Territory; the NT Civil Administration Tribunal (NTCAT); the Fair Work Commission; the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC); the Australian Crime Commission (ACC); the Liquor Commission; Native Title hearings; the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, Domestic Violence Order (DVO), Personal Violence Restraining Orders (PVRO) and Care and Protection matters. Shane has the knowledge, skills and experience to fearlessly advocate for you from commencement in the Lower Courts all the way through to successful resolution in the Superior Courts.
