259 Charged Following Operation Drink Drive 1

259 Charged Following Operation Drink Drive 1

New South Wales Police were out in force last weekend, conducting an intensive 3-day operation which saw over 200,000 people breath-tested.

Operation Drink Drive 1 ran State-wide from 12.01am on Friday 15 Feb 2019 to 11.59pm on Sunday 17 Feb 2019 and resulted in 259 people being charged with drink driving offences. Those charged will need to appear before a magistrate and face a criminal conviction and disqualification of their licence.

While most drivers try to do the right thing, the reality is that judging your own blood alcohol content is notoriously difficult and, for many, the result will be the first court appearance in their lives; for repeat offenders, the penalties are significantly more severe. Drink driving is treated seriously by the courts and the decision made by the magistrate often has an enormous impact on a person’s life, including loss of employment and future job opportunities. If you find yourself in this position you’re no doubt feeling stressed. Fortunately, you don’t need to go through it alone – we are here to help.

At Armstrong Legal we have a team of dedicated traffic lawyers who have represented hundreds of clients charged with drink driving offences across New South Wales. We can guide you through the process step-by-step, explaining the effect of recent major changes to sentencing and drink driving laws, ensuring your matter is thoroughly prepared and using our experience and knowledge of magistrates’ attitudes and expectations to achieve the best possible outcome for you.
