Attending a Police Station

Attending a police station to be interviewed by the police as a suspect to a crime can be a very stressful experience. This part of the website has been designed to answer questions like:
  • Should I be interviewed by police?
  • Do I have to give a version of what occured to the police?
  • Do I have to attend the Police Station at all?
  • Do the police have the power to take DNA?
  • Do the police have the power to fingerprint, photograph me or order a medical examination?

Armstrong Legal have a team of Criminal lawyers some of whom have been police officers and prosecutors who can provide you with advice so that you know what to expect when you attend the police station or can attend the police station with you.  We have discovered that there are many advantages to using Armstrong Legal before speaking with the police.  We have listed a few of those below:

  • It may not be necessary for you to attend the Police Station. Some times the police do not have enough evidence and only want you to attend to get the evidence.
  • We can often meet at a time that suits you and us.
  • We can often argue why bail should be granted with the police rather than arguing bail at court.
  • We may be able to settle any disputed facts with the police before they commit to writing what they said occured.
